I was born in Spain and grew up mainly in Granada and also partially in Barcelona. I did my medical school training at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Granada, qualifying as a medical doctor in 1990.
During the 90’s, I trained clinically as a medical specialist in psychiatry in London, UK, where I obtained my medical specialist certificates after working there for about 10 years. Thus, I completed my basic specialist training within the University College and Royal Free Hospitals training schemes and then moved on to the South London and Maudsley scheme to complete my higher specialist training.
Over this period I also started working as a medical researcher and, eventually, became a lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, where I trained as an academic. Back in Spain, I worked in Barcelona for 6 years and , currently, hold the post of Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Granada (Spain).
Languages I speak, write and read to full proficiency in Spanish, English and Catalan
